The Frankenstein Castle really is the stuff stories derive from. It may have been the inspiration for the Frankenstein novel written in the early 1800s. Around the time of the Frankenstein novel, it was home to an alchemist, theologian, and amateur anatomist. The Castle itself dates back to the 1200s and has housed counts, lords, and knights, been a refuge and a hospital. The alchemist supposedly haunts the roof of the chapel. Shadows appear on the walls and voices heard. Stones also hurtle from the top of the tower towards unwanted guests.
