Using Cardboard as Seed Tubes
A simple way to start your seeds involves using toilet paper and paper towel tubes. Cut them into two-inch sections and place them in waterproof trays. Fill each tube with soil and proceed with planting your seeds. When your seedlings are ready to be transferred outdoors, don’t remove them from the tubes. Instead, plant them directly in the garden, ensuring the cardboard tube is buried deep in the soil. This will help retain moisture around the roots and support healthy growth.
Fertilizing of Dense Plants
For healthy plant growth, fertilizer is essential. To apply it effectively, focus on getting the fertilizer around the base of the plant. A 2-inch PVC pipe is helpful for this task. Simply position one end of the pipe at the plant’s base, then pour the fertilizer through it. Make sure to cut the pipe at a 45-degree angle to create a large enough opening for easy pouring. This ensures that the fertilizer is directed precisely to the roots without waste.
