13. Longmen Grottoes, Henan Province
Carved into the cliffs of Mountains of the Longmen and Xiangshan are around 1300 caves. Dating to 493 the caves hold over 1000 Buddhist statues ranging in size from 1 inch to 57 feet. The caves and works of art are on either side of the Yi River which flows between these two mountains.
